Bible College News: Missions in Uruguay
This weekend over fifty students will embark on exciting opportunities for ministry. Many will participate in outreaches directly related to ABC, while others have taken the initiative to arrange missions as a group of students. The largest ministry team traveling on behalf of ABC is the ABC Chorale. Learn more about their ministry and their itinerary by visiting the Chorale webpage.
The second group takes flight this afternoon out of Charlotte, NC, determined to reach Montevideo, Uruguay. The equation presented by Mr. Phil Peterson, leader of the trip and Chair of ABC’s Missions Ministry Major, is as follows:
7 ABC Students
+ 3 ABC Staff
+ a 15 hour plane flight
+ a 4 hour bus ride
= Not your ordinary Spring Break.
Those seven students (pictured above) are Sarah Apgar, Ethan Appell, Michael Belson, Stephen Golden, Kaitlyn Johnson, Alicia Myers, and Kari Peterson. The staff consists of Mr. Phil Peterson, Mr. Dave Holloway (V.P. for Extension Ministries and Director of Alpine Ministries), and Miss Vanessa Boyd (Program Director for Alpine Bible Camp).
Throughout their week in Uruguay team members will serve by developing and completing low-element initiatives for Camp Paysandú. In addition to the ministry there, the team will be involved in two youth rallies, local church ministries, and immersion in Uruguayan culture.
This year’s trip is a follow-up of one taken in 2008 that included one staff member and four students. Please pray for these 10 individuals as they endeavor to impact lives for Christ.
Let them know you will be praying for them by posting a word of encouragement on the team’s Facebook page.
