The Salt & Light Drama Team ministers through a full-length original drama, with a different play presented each year. Team members prepare during the first semester and minister during the second semester (mid January through April) to churches and Christian schools usually within a 1–2-hour travel time from the college.
Salt & Light’s ministry is geared for teens and adults but usually is suitable for most audiences of all ages. Because there is no drama without conflict, there always are some moments of tension between people, which may include raised voices and mild physical violence (as in shoving or grabbing another person). Some younger children may find these moments upsetting, and we leave it to the discretion of parents as to their seeing the drama.
We have a limited number of dates for the Salt & Light Drama Team to be scheduled, as all of the team members are full-time students at the college. Contact Tim Gonzales, Ministry Team Itinerary Coordinator, to schedule Salt & Light.
2014 Ministry Program
Stephen, a college sophomore, arrives on a state university campus after having a year of Bible college as a freshman. Stephen will be roommates with his best friend from his home town, Jonah, who already attended state university the previous year. Stephen’s younger sister, Stacy, is also at state university as a freshman. Stephen expects Jonah and Stacy to be strong Christians along side him, unshakeable in their faith; but he soon realizes that Jonah’s previous year at state has caused him to turn from his faith, especially from the influence of one popular professor, Dr. Jade. Jonah and Stephen’s other roommate, Josh, is an unsaved sophomore with a reputation for drinking and using girls, then dumping them. Stacy’s freshman roommate Bri, who is a bit of a ditz, rounds out the cast. As Stacy, heavily influenced by Dr. Jade, begins to question her faith and decides she does not need to live by biblical principles, Stephen tries to force her to remain faithful. Jonah’s romantic interest in Stacy and his turning from God bring him into conflict with Stephen. As these young people struggle to deal with the ungodly influences around them, Stephen remains unshakeable in his faith and is used by God to draw others to Himself. Dr. Jade spouts outrageous lies in her rejection of the truth of Scripture, especially in the Creation account, but Stephen—and eventually Stacy—reveal the truth of God’s Word.
