The Salt & Light Drama Team ministers through a full-length original drama, with a different play presented each year. Team members prepare during the first semester and minister during the second semester (mid January through April) to churches and Christian schools usually within a 1–2-hour travel time from the college.
Salt & Light’s ministry is geared for teens and adults but usually is suitable for most audiences of all ages. Because there is no drama without conflict, there always are some moments of tension between people, which may include raised voices and mild physical violence (as in shoving or grabbing another person). Some younger children may find these moments upsetting, and we leave it to the discretion of parents as to their seeing the drama.
We have a limited number of dates for the Salt & Light Drama Team to be scheduled, as all of the team members are full-time students at the college. Contact Tim Gonzales, Ministry Team Itinerary Coordinator, to schedule Salt & Light.
2011 Ministry Program
Just a Few Questions
This year’s drama, “Just a Few Questions” centers around the gospel—hearing it, responding to it, and sharing it with others. Two high school girls living in mobile homes in a trailer park struggle with their own conflicts. Mara, a gifted student, has an alcoholic mother and limited finances and hopes desperately to win a scholarship to college. Angie’s boyfriend and her mother are verbally abusive, and Angie is resigned to accept this as her lot in life. When two teenage boys from a local church target the trailer park for witnessing, the gospel is given to Mara, who thought she already was saved, to Angie, and to others in the trailer park and beyond. The gospel’s ability to transform lives is the heart of this program. The timing for the play has not yet been finalized, but it likely will be approximately 50-60 minutes.
