Music has the capacity to unify a church in worship, prepare a heart to receive the Gospel, or drive home the truth of God's Word. So where can you get the best education and experience necessary to skillfully wield the tool of song for God's glory?
Appalachian Bible College offers a double major in Bible / Theology and Music, and its top goal is to equip you for music ministry in a local church. Mr. Jeremy Yowell -
According to Colossians 3:16, music is a powerful way to communicate the truth of God’s Word. Today’s church should be “teaching and admonishing” through Scriptural “songs, hymns and spiritual songs.” In ministry, music is never simply “filler” or mere entertainment; it is a means by which God’s Word can penetrate hearts and minds.
Our music faculty desire to inspire, motivate, and equip students to fulfill their God-given calling to assist the church in acceptably worshiping God. We believe that music can be a great, unifying force within today’s church. At ABC, we want to train musicians with excellence so that they can serve in churches, schools, and other avenues of ministry around the world.
The Bible has much to say about music and strongly supports its place in worship. Paul commands Christians to communicate with one another "in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."
Since the days of Moses, individuals have been given the task of leading others in praise and worship of God through music. The need for godly, trained musicians in the church remains today, whether leading congregational singing, accompanying with instruments, directing a choir, or training others to serve musically.
